Georgie Update 24th December

 

Merry Christmas from a Happy Georgie

Georgie has had two more acupuncture sessions and we are really starting to see a difference in her. 

She was very excited at the hospital on her second visit and the sessions really seem to relax her muscles.  She moved very freely in the evening and played happily with her toys. 

Last Saturday Georgie had her longest ever session at the hydrotherapy pool.  She was in the pool for 1 hour 15 minutes.  It is the highlight of her week being at the pool and she would stay in there all day if she could.  She was looking really good in the afternoon and she had an hours walk.

The hospital had changed Georgie’s painkillers last week and she was sick a couple of times on the Sunday after changing to the new pills.  This didn’t seem to bother her though as she had bags of energy and had two long walks.  She was even challenging other dogs for her Frisbee when normally she backs off straight away for fear of being banged into. 

As the week progressed Georgie started losing her appetite and was even refusing her favourite treats – raw carrots ! On the Tuesday it was obvious that the effects of the acupuncture had worn off and that she was in pain again.  By the Thursday she was going vacant quite a lot and spending all day asleep and only having short walks.

Thankfully Thursday was Georgie’s third session of acupuncture and she picked up again straight away.  She really enjoyed the weekend, which of course included a hydrotherapy session and she loves puppy playing in the frost.

Georgie is becoming much more clingy to us now and the vets believe it is because she sees us as providing her with pain relief and so doesn’t like us to leave her alone.  She is also becoming a lot more affectionate and really loves being cuddled up on the couch with us.

She now gets to spend every day in work with Neil where she is paid a good salary for being a guard dog, paper shredder, and managing director!
