Georgie Update 15th April 2008
From Snow to hail, Rain to
Sunshine, the April showers have really impacted on Georgie. The
damp weather is causing her to seize up a little - not as bad as when it
was damp and cold in the winter, but enough to show that she is in pain.
She was on 3 types of medication, Gabeprentin, Tramadol and Rimadyl. Following our last visit to the hospital we were advised to try taking her off the Gabepretin to see what impact it has. As her mood has got worse since, this test only lasted for 10 days before she had to be returned to the Full cocktail of pills (not including the Serequin!) It is a constant diet of pills from 06:00 in the morning, at 13:00 and then finally at 20:00, but without it she quickly starts to show a lot of pain.
The
difficult decision for us, as her owners, is to decide how we balance
her quality of life with her chronic condition. For example of
Sunday we took her to the River Dee and walked along it - she was
thrilled and enjoyed showing off swimming off in the river after balls.
But then when she returns home she soon starts to suffer. But as
she is not even at her fourth birthday we still want her to get the
exercise and excitement in her life that any other dog would get.
As Georgie goes to work with me each day - my other dogs can at least be
exercised well without her - but Georgie does have a love for life and
its difficult to stop her from joining in!
More from Georgie in the next couple of weeks
