Georgie update 20th January 2008
Its been a strange time since Georgies last update appeared here!!!
Georgie is doing really well at the
moment. She is now having 2 acupuncture sessions a week which she really
enjoys. She has progressed from the smallest needles which are used on
cats to the larger needles. I never honestly believed the
acupuncture would work but the impact on Georgie is amazing, and it is
all due to the staff at Liverpool university Small Animal hospital!
Their pain management clinic has changed her medication and settled her
down brilliantly.
When Georgie used to go to the hospital to be weighed she would run into
the room and pull the cupboard doors open with her paws and drag all the
toys out and play manically the entire time she was in there. Now that
she is having acupuncture she goes into the room and lies straight down
on the towel on the floor and waits for the vet to put the needles in.
She goes into a trance like state and seems to be really relaxed except
when she hears another dog or a person going by the door.
We are keeping a diary of Georgie’s exercise, demeanour, amount of pain
killers and the weather so we can try to establish a pattern in her pain
levels in order to help relieve her pain more effectively.
On damp days we try to keep Georgie indoors as much as possible and put
heat packs in her bed to keep her warm which she seems to enjoy. She
loves to go for walks but at the moment the river where we walk is too
wet and muddy and she struggles to walk on the slippery ground so she is
having shorter walks around the estate in the evening instead.
She has good days and bad days but the good days seem to outweigh the
bad at the moment and she is enjoying running around the house playing
with toys and our other two dogs in the evening.

did not believe that it would help - but anyone who saw Georgie would be
