FEELING BETTER

After Georgies set back when she started limping whilst out on a walk a couple of weeks ago, things are improving again.  The antibiotics she was given at the hospital seemed to make her feel better as she stopped limping after a few days.  Her surgeon thought it was possible that she may have had an infection and booked her back in for Wednesday last week for x-rays to check that all the pieces of wire that were holding her knee in place had been removed.  If there was some left in it would explain the infection.

She had the x-rays and the gait analysis on her hips and was allowed home the same night.  They confirmed that there was nothing left in her leg to cause an infection which was good news.  Georgie is often quite stiff and sore after a hospital visit as they have to manipulate her hips, which causes her a lot of discomfort so she had a morphine shot and was quite groggy till the next day.

By the Friday Georgie was feeling very happy and had endless energy on her walks.  She was even puppy playing and chasing rabbits with our other dogs Che & Isobel – she normally just watches them.  She managed nearly an hour at her swimming session in the hydrotherapy pool, which makes sure that her muscles are strong enough to cope with the hip replacements.

Her first operation date is set to be in November so it will be within the next few weeks.  In the meantime Georgie is enjoying the last of the warm weather and we are making the most of it by taking her for lots of nice walks to places like Delamere Forest.

Life is good again for Georgie !
