Georgie Update 4th December

HIP OPERATION DELAYED

Georgie has been back and forth to the vets this week trying to find out why she seems so poorly. The spray we were using on her skin was having no effect so she was taken back in for blood tests. They were worried that her immune system was down, which would result in having to delay the hip replacement operation, as this would put her at a higher risk of getting an infection.

The blood tests showed that her immune system was fine but she still seemed really down in the evenings and was still being sick. She was given some antacids to calm her stomach down, which seem to have worked, as she has stopped being sick now.

The vet says that Georgie is in a lot of pain and has given her a different pain killer to be taken with the ones she already has. We have discussed Georgie with the surgeon at the Liverpool small animal hospital and they have agreed that it is in Georgie’s best interests to delay the hip replacement operation until January. She is due to go to the hospital on Friday to discuss her pain management programme to see if we can give her better pain relief.

Despite having said all of this there are moments when Georgie is really happy and runs around like an excited puppy as if there is nothing wrong with her, and she never says no to a walk, but you can tell she suffers for it later on.

Check here for further weekly updates on Georgie – we hope she will be feeling much better next week.
