Dukes Drive - Centre of Chester
Dukes
drive offers a relaxing walk whilst having the benefit of being close to
chester city centre (on the way to the Business park) It is already a
popular dog walking area, as it has the great mixture of woodland and trees,
plus
lots of open grassy areas, as well as a central path which makes it
accessible to those who have difficulty in walking, buggies etc. The
dogs can run off and explore the woods whilst the path means that the walk
is relatively mud free
Good points:
It is
already a popular area with dogs walkers and most
seem
to be very friendly. There are plenty of sticks for the dogs, and the
long straight path means that if you do need to get your dog under control
you have plenty of distance to spot other people coming towards you.
Bad Points:
Very Few
poo bins! and watch out for the joggers. Because of the beauty of the
area the route is popular with non dog owners who are sometimes not too fond
of dogs being off
leads. the parking is also limited to around 15 cars although other
local areas can be found to park on.
Overall – A really good walk with for those who don't want to venture off paths. The dogs love the wooded areas but the popularity of the walk means that you will always bump into other people and dogs - so beware!
How to Find it:
Travelling from Chester
towards the racecourse, you will come to the roundabout (with the business
park straight on and Saltney to the Right. Dukes drive is the turnoff
on the left - you will see the gates (as per the picture above)
