Delamere Forest

Deleamere is Cheshires largest wooded area - and a brilliant area for walking your dog.  Large wide paths allow easy access for anyone wishing to walk with their dogs, buggies, or, as is popular here, ride your bike alongside your dog.  The Forest has a central parking area with a large car park (pay and display) as well as a number of smaller car parks which provide access to smaller, more secluded walks.

Good points:

Delamere is so big that each time you go, you can find new routes and new things to do.  There are different routes for you to follow offering different challenges depending on how energetic you feel, whilst the sandstone trail which runs through the area also offers a lovely walk.  The smaller parking areas are certainly worth investigating as they offer more secluded walks and less traffic chaos at the peak tourist periods!

Bad Points:

Delamere is a bit of a victim of its own success and can sometimes become too crowded.  Unlike many dog walking areas, a lot of the people who go to delamere are walkers who aren't always so keen to see a dog running towards them.  The other big danger is bikes - in some area's mountain biked can go by with speed and this can be a little dangerous - or spook your pet! The wide paths also prevent access to many of the wooded areas where the dogs would enjoy themselves.

Overall – A walk which is suitable for all as it can be made as short or as long as you would like it to be.  its good to keep your dog on a long lead in many of the walking areas but do explore some of the smaller park areas.

How to Find it:

Delamere is a key tourist attraction so is well signposted and easy to find.
